General partnership agreement

What's a general partnership agreement, and when do you need it?

This is a model partnership agreement that you can adapt to suit almost any business that you want to run as a general partnership. It is not appropriate for a limited liability partnership model. If you want to set up a limited liability partnership you'll need our template for that instead. And if you have an existing partnership that you want to convert to a limited liability partnership, you can use our template transfer agreement.

Our template is drafted as a deed, which is a standard approach for agreements of this nature. Our template contains guidance on what deeds are and how you go about signing one - the biggest element of which is that signatures will need to be witnessed. The template also contains helpful information on who can be a witness and what it means to be a witness in these circumstances.
